Elfenshot’s entry for Tropfest in 2015 – ‘Narrators’ – only just made it, with last minute upload issues affecting hundreds of entrants on the last day. At 11:56pm, it was through. Four minutes in hand.
Tropfest 2015 TSI – “Card”
Trying to put a card (or at least some reference to ‘card’) into ‘Narrators’ and still have it be part of the story is actually more challenging than you might think. We didn’t want to do what many filmmakers have done in Tropfest entries in the past and just have something in the background.
For ‘Diffraction’ in 2014, we let ‘mirror’ (the TSI for that year) become not only the key to the story (we can only see Lisa in mirrored reflections), but we also threw a massive mirror into every shot in the boardroom. Sounds good in theory, but what do mirrors do? That’s right, they reflect; they reflect everything! Visible crew, visible equipment, lighting issues and 180 issues all ensued.
We placed a card in Mike’s hand for his blind date with Deborah. I can assure you, we will all be looking out for what everybody else did with their TSI.
