For our short films to date, the way that we have been organising our cast and crew has been through StarNow (www.starnow.com.au). StarNow is free for people to join and is a fantastic resource. Posting an ad requires a paid membership (around $10.00 per month) but it really is worth it.

StarNow actually works in a multitude of ways. Firstly, it is a great avenue when calling for actors. Actors have the ability to put up a selection of photos and videos on their profile, making it easier to get a feel for an individual’s abilities. The profile page also seems to be the spot that actors lie about their range of talents, accents, height and abilities (only kidding!)
Calling for crew is also done by submitting through StarNow. Although we are currently making low-budget masterpieces, I have yet to be let down by anyone who has joined our crew through StarNow.
Finally, StarNow is a way for filmmakers to find other filmmakers, offering to help on other projects.
