Everyone needs a helping hand throughout the day, and Mike is no different. It’s only when his helping hand surprises him that things get even more intense.
‘Narrators’ was Elfenshot Films’ 2015 Tropfest entry, starring Tony Adams, Christine Husband, Elizabeth O’Callaghan, WD Stevens and Will Sutherland.
The shoot was three days long (on successive weekends).
Locations
Langwarrin
The first day shooting took in all of the house scenes (including the notorious shower scene), which were filmed in suburban Langwarrin in Melbourne’s outer south east. Mike’s exercise regime scenes (mostly cut from the seven minute Tropfest version) were filmed at a park also in Langwarrin.
Mike’s blind date with Deborah was filmed with the support and assistance of everyone at the Dingley International Hotel. We had access to the location for three hours in total and had to work diligently to get all of the heavy dialogue in the can early because the bistro was ‘live’ for the last hour.
We worked with a two camera set-up, which gave Tony and Christine the chance to improvise some funny (and awkward) interaction. In fact, it was a testament to the solid acting skills of the pair, who kept up the professionalism in the face of more and more spectators as the bistro’s patrons started filing through.
Don Camillo’s Cafe
The final day of shooting took in two locations in Melbourne: Don Camillo’s and a CBD office.
Don Camillo’s Cafe is owned and operated by retired super heavyweight kickboxer (and actor) Sam Greco. Unsurprisingly, everyone was well-behaved on set.
We were at this location for two hours and Sam very graciously agreed to be involved on camera as well.
Collins Street Office
A quick location change saw us pack everything up and do a run to the CBD for our office scenes. Everything went off without a hitch, except for the fact that the power was off and we couldn’t access the building for an hour!
